Međugorje

Međugorje is a small village located in Herzegovina. It became extremely famous after the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1981 and is one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in the world.
The most famous places in Međugorje are Apparition Hill, Križevac, Church of St. James and Foothill, where the Blessed Virgin Mary first appeared.
Although the place is famous for pilgrimages, there are other attractions that can be visited. The surrounding nature is beautiful, with green hills and picturesque villages that are worth a visit. On the nearby Trebižat river is the Kravice waterfall, which is one of the most beautiful natural beauties in Herzegovina.
In Međugorje you can also find various souvenir shops, restaurants and cafes. However, despite the tourist industry that has developed around the pilgrimage site, Međugorje has retained its traditional Herzegovinian atmosphere, with local residents striving to preserve their culture and customs.
